Strive for Unconditional Love

Our earthly purpose may be to learn to express unconditional love, for love is the highest vibration and most powerful emotion of all. But few of us know how to define unconditional love, let alone live it. Here are some characteristics of unconditional love: • Your love for another person cannot be diminished by anything the other person said or did. • Your love is not dependent upon being loved. • You give freely of yourself with no expectation of return. • You allow total freedom to your mate. • You expect no more than your lover can give. • You love your partner without expecting him/her to change. • You find joy in your partner’s happiness, even at the expense of your own. • You rise above any and all negativity, refusing to let it affect you. How many of these can you honestly say you do? Probably not many. Let’s take a look at an extreme example to help bring unconditional love to life: Your partner had an affair. Instead of “making him pay” for his actions, you accept the fact he had needs that were unfulfilled. You know that the both of you had equal responsibility for making the relationship the way it is. You may decide to stay or decide to leave. If you decide to stay, put the past behind you and move forward without “punishing” your mate. If you decide to leave, let go with light and love. Wish your partner well and move on without holding any resentment or hostility. Unconditional love does not require you to stay in a relationship in which your needs are unfulfilled. Instead, it allows you to be free of expectations, judgment, blame, and the need to control. You realize the other person is doing the best they can?maybe not the best they know how, but the best they can. Love them anyway.
