Six Blocks to Acting

 
If you want change, you must act. This seems obvious, but for the vast majority of the people in the world, either they don’t quite realize this, or they are simply to lazy to act. If you want a better relationship, and you are a person who seems to have problems with acting, then try exploring these blocks: Lack of Clarity: Do you know what you want from your partner or your relationship? If not, that is probably a major problem for you. Get clear on your goal, then put your actions to the test. Fear of Change: What we desire, we also fear. Change requires a certain level of discomfort. If improving your relationship would result in changing your behavior, explore why you are avoiding it. Waiting for something or someone else to “save” you: Perhaps you think your relationship is “over” but you are just waiting for your partner to end it or for someone better to come along. Or perhaps you are waiting for your partner to miraculously change. It won’t happen. You have to take control. Lack of aliveness or challenge: When we lack excitement and blood-pumping exhilaration in our lives, nothing seems fun. If you lack aliveness, find a way to create it in a positive manner. Overwhelm: You have a job, kids, and a marriage. Then there is soccer practice and in-laws. Most people make excuses that they can’t change because too much is preventing them from taking necessary action. Doubting Yourself: If you don’t believe in your ability to make changes, then it won’t happen. If you don’t think you are capable of the actions required for a successful relationship, then you probably won’t act. Explore these six blocks to acting. Chances are you probably fall into more than one category. Make a commitment to yourself that you will no longer tolerate your old mindset. Act now.
